Public Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch said Monday that he would not speed up the process of choosing a replacement for police chief Insp.-Gen. Yohanan Danino. His comments came a day after Jerusalem District Police commander Asst.-Ch. Yossi Pariente, believed to be one of the leading candidates to replace Danino, resigned. Another person thought to be a candidate to replace Danino, Central District commander Asst.-Ch. Bruno Stein, stepped down just two weeks ago. 'No one will push me to take steps I see as wrong, Aharonovitch said at at a ceremony in Beersheba. 'I will take my time, consider my options and make my decision through the most organized process possible.'
