President Shimon Peres said on Tuesday morning that relations between Israel and Egypt had strengthened, and praised Egypt's attempts to fight terror and smuggling. Peres's statement came ahead of a meeting with President Hosni Mubarak in Cairo. The two leaders were expected to discuss efforts to free captive IDF soldier Gilad Schalit, held by Hamas terrorists, and a regional peace agreement.
