A cameraman accompanying Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad defected to the United States during the Iranian delegation's visit to the United Nations General Assembly, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday.

A lawyer for the cameraman, Hassan Gol Khanban, confirmed to the Journal that his client was seeking asylum in the US.
