An Egyptian security official has been quoted as saying that the attack on a major natural gas pipeline in northern Sinai Saturday was carried out by a foreign element, and not an Egyptian terrorist group, UAE-based Arabic news daily Al-Arabiya reported.

The source added that the intended target was Jordan, and not Israel.
