Al Jazeera TV says gov't shut down its operations in Kuwait

CAIRO — Kuwait Monday shut the offices of the Al Jazeera television network in the country and withdrew its accreditation after it gave airtime to an opposition lawmaker in defiance of government warnings.
The Qatar-based network said Kuwait accused it of meddling in the country's internal affairs. The action also barred Al Jazeera's reporters from working in the country.
Kuwait's Information Ministry said Monday's closure was in response to the channel's defiance of warnings not to cover recent political developments in the country.
