Apple Inc. is preparing to acquire Israeli company LinX for a possible price of $20 million, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal on Tuesday.

Both companies stayed mum on the deal, with only Apple releasing a simple statement.

"Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," a company spokesperson said.
