Arab MKs ask to meet Obama during upcoming Israel visit

US President Barack Obama should meet with representatives of Arab parties during his visit to Israel next month, the head of the United Arab List, MK Ibrahim Sarsour wrote US ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro Saturday.
Sarsour noted that no American president has ever met the head of an Israeli Arab party.
Sarsour said that if granted time with Obama, he would raise the status of the Arab minority in Israel, the conditions of Palestinian prisoners, and the importance of the US's role in restarting peace talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
When Obama came to Israel as a senator in 2006, he visited the northern Arab Christian village of Fassouta, where Obama toured a computer training center created by the Jewish Federation and the Archdiocese of Chicago.
