BEIRUT - The Arab League was still waiting for Syria's response to its proposal on ways to end seven months of unrest, the organization's deputy secretary-general Ahmed Ben Helli told al Arabiya television on Tuesday.

"I am telling you and I was with the secretary general half an hour ago, that until now the Arab League has not been informed of Syria's formal response to the Arab initiative," he said.

"We are still waiting for it. My information is that the Syrian side will present it tomorrow," he added.
