Arguments erupt between Abbas, Fatah activists at Bethlehem convention

Angry arguments over elections and money erupted between Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Fatah activists on Wednesday, the second day of the movement's convention. Fatah's first convention in 20 years is meant to elect new leaders, clean up Fatah's image and make it more competitive with rival Hamas. However, delegates complained Wednesday that Fatah's old guard was trying to manipulate the elections. Delegate Hussam Khader said Abbas rejected his demand for a detailed account by the leadership of how it spent the movement's money. Another heated dispute erupted over representation for Gaza.
