Two suspected criminal assassins were arrested in Ashkelon on Monday night. Police said the pair, armed with a handgun, were en route to carry out a criminal hit and were intercepted following intelligence received by the Lachish police sub district's central unit.

The suspects attempted to flee police in a vehicle and tried to run down officers, police added.

They were stopped and overpowered by officers.
