IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi said on Monday that Yeshiva students could not continue forever with the reality that some youths carry the burden and others precede them in finding jobs.

In a meeting with students on the religious Ono Academic College campus Ashkenazi called on the government to raise the age of exemptions for Yeshiva students to 24 or 25 and to decide that younger Yeshiva students would be exempt from military service only if they had children.Ashkenazi said "the government knows this is the military stance."
