IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi announced Sunday that the IDF will participate in investigations into the Galant scandal that was exposed by Channel 2 on Friday.

The scandal involves a document that appeared to indicate that Eyal Arad, a political strategist, was advising OC Southern Command Maj.-Gen. Yoav Galant  in his effort to be chosen as the next IDF chief of General Staff.

Ashkenazi said that if the document is found to be real then there will be serious consequences and if it is found to fake then it will also be treated very seriously.
