Ashkenazi: Shayetet's response proportional; very proud

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi on Wednesday at the Turkel Committee said that he is proud of the soldiers who were on the Mavi Marmara, their use of force was proportional and that they engaged who they were required to.

"The decision to avoid the summoning of commanders is true," Ashkenazi told the panel. "One should allow the soldiers and commanders to prepare for the challenges ahead, so I will represent them. The IDF is a transparently controlled organization which studies from its mistakes and is committed to examine its actions and investigate every operation. I focused mainly in investigating the Shayetet's actions on the Marmara as soon as the raid began."
