Former IDF chief of staff Gabi Ashkenazi on Sunday stated that Israel has no choice but to uproot terror, even in heavily populated civilian areas.
"While we are (attacking), it could happen that a young child might take shrapnel to the head and die," he said.
He added, nonetheless, that "I have an obligation to protect my citizens."
"If (Hamas and Hezbollah) put their launching pads in villages, they are going to be bombared," he said, adding that "I have no hesitation."
