EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton met with Noam and Aviva Schalit, parents of captive soldier Gilad Schalit, on Monday.

The Schalits asked Ashton to do all she can within the European Parliament to help free their son, who has French as well as Israeli citizenship, Israel Radio reported.

Ashton called for Gilad Schalit to be freed immediately.
