Australia will compile its own report on the arrest and death of Ben Zygier and ask Israel to contribute to it, AAP cited Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr as saying.

"We want to give [Israel] an opportunity to submit to us an explanation of how this tragic death came about," Carr told reporters, according to AAP.

Carr ordered the review of the Prisoner X case to "satisfy" himself that the Australian government is doing enough, after it has been criticized for its handling of the case.
