Ayalon slams Abbas for saying Lieberman shouldn't be FM

Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon on Sunday responded angrily to remarks by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that Avigdor Lieberman shouldn't have been appointed foreign minister. "The intervention of foreigners in the internal affairs of the State of Israel is totally unacceptable," Ayalon said in a statement. "This intervention is much more severe when the statement is made by a Palestinian leader who favors the right of return, the meaning of which is the annihilation of the State of Israel as a Jewish and Zionist state." The deputy minister also alluded to Abbas's statement that things would be different with Kadima head Tzipi Livni in the coalition, and said that it is clear that the PA president would "prefer Israeli leaders who will allow him to realize his dream, rather than leaders who are willing to stand up for the vital interests of Israel."
