UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon congratulated Rami Hamdallah who took over as head of the Palestinian Authority on Thursday.In a press release a UN spokesperson wrote, "the United Nations looks forward to continuing to work with the Government of Palestine and President Abbas in support of the state-building agenda and ongoing efforts aimed at a resumption of crucial and meaningful peace negotiations to achieve the two-State solution."The spokesperson also commended Salam Fayyad for his "commitment to readying the Palestinian institutions for statehood."
