Ban Ki-Moon: Peace requires leadership, compromise

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday met with President Shimon Peres and called on Israel and the Palestinians to refrain from acts that would endanger the continuation of renewed peace negotiations.

Ban added that Israel has legitimate security requirements and should not have to live in perpetual fear. The UN chief stated that peace requires leadership and compromise and vowed the United Nations will make every effort to support the process.
