Barak: Decision to evacuate Hebron home upholds democracy

Defense Minister Ehud Barak said Wednesday that the decision to evacuate the disputed Hebron home Beit Hamachpela was part of his responsibility to safeguard democracy and the rule of law in Israel.

"I won't allow settlers to dictate how the government runs the country" he said, adding that the request for a permit would still be reviewed.
