Defense Minister Ehud Barak praised the Arab League's decision to support direct talks between Palestinians and Israelis on Thursday.
Speaking from Washington, Barak reportedly said that only direct negotiations would make reaching a two-state solution possible.
He added that talks would require difficult decisions on both sides, and said he hoped that the Palestinians would understand this.
