Defense Minister Ehud Barak on Tuesday defended his absense from a Knesset State Control Committee meeting on senior appointments in the IDF.

A message from his office, his advisory stated, "The Defense Minister Ehud Barak had announced a number of weeks ago to Knesset chair Reuven Rivlin that he is willing to appear in front of the State Control Committee of the Knesset and in all committee meetings to which he is invited.

The defense minister clarified that he is not willing to participate in "media productions staged by political factors."
