Defense Minister Ehud Barak met on Wednesday morning with visiting Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Moratinos to discuss the renewal of peace talks with the Palestinians, among other critical issues.

"We also spoke of the situation in the North and of Israel's unwillingness to see it deteriorate, as well as of our expectations that all sides exercise responsibility in order to prevent entanglements there," read a statement from Barak's office.

Moratinos met with Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon in Beersheba on Tuesday afternoon.
