The religious Zionist Bayit Yehudi party filed a criminal complaint Wednesday with police over alleged incitement by left-wing Facebook users against its leader, Education Minister Naftali Bennet, on social media. According to a statement released by the party, Bennett's Facebook page has been inundated with threatening messages that allegedly encourage violence against the minister as well as other right-wing politicians. Political tensions have reached a fever pitch in Israel in the wake of last week's horrific stabbings at the Jerusalem gay pride parade as well as the arson attack that killed a Palestinian toddler in the West Bank.
