Bill against discrimination based on sexual orientation clears hurdle

A bill forbidding discrimination based on gender or sexual orientation received the Ministerial Committee for Legislation's approval Sunday.

The legislation was proposed by MK Ofer Shelah (Yesh Atid), who said it is what must be done in an advanced democratic state with equality for all.

Seven ministers from Likud, Hatnua and Yesh Atid voted in favor of the bill, while five from Bayit Yehudi and Yisrael Beytenu voted against it.
