Twenty members of the family of Al-Qaida terrorist Osama bin Laden are stranded in Iran, Omar bin Laden, his son, told Al-Arabiya television on Sunday in a report cited by AFP.

The family members have been stranded in Iran after Teheran refused to allow them head to Saudi Arabia, Omar bin Laden explained.

"I think the time has come for my family members to leave Iran but their lack of identification papers and passports made us in need of another third-party country willing to receive them after Iran refused to hand them over to Saudi Arabia," Omar bin Laden was quoted by AFP as saying.

Bin Laden added that one of his brother's in Teheran, Othman, had asked him to find a country that would negotiate their release from Iran and provide them with asylum.
