The Foreign Ministry's appointment committee on Thursday appointed Baruch Bina, the ministry's deputy director-general for North America, as Israel's number two diplomat in Washington.
Bina will be replacing Dan Arbel who was suspended in September from his position as deputy ambassador because of allegations he leaked information to a journalist in 2009. Arbel, with children in school in the US, will be staying in Washington until the summer and working for the Foreign Ministry in another capacity.
