The car bomb that killed a nuclear scientist near Tehran University in Iran Wednesday was the work of the Mossad and Kurdish militant organization the People's Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), Richard Silverstein's wrote in his Tukun Olam blog according to a "confidential Israeli source."

Silverstein uses as proof for the allegation the method of the murder, including the magnetic bomb that was attached to the professors vehicle from a motorcycle, and a Le Figaro report that details Mossad training of Iranian Kurds in the autonomous Kurdistan region of Iraq to carry out such hit jobs.

Silverstein wrote that the United States is inherently involved because of "extremely good" relations between the US and the Iraqi Kurds.

An Iranian official implicated Israel by likening the bombing to previous ones, but did not extend the blame to include the Kurds living in Iraq and Iran as well.
