A body which washed ashore south of Haifa on Monday morning was identified as that of a 18-year-old who had been missing since Sunday night.

The youth went missing after entering the sea to swim at the Student's Beach in southern Haifa on Sunday.

Authorities began searching for him Sunday after his companion reported that he had not returned to shore.

They suspended the search for the youth and discovered the body after renewing their efforts at first light on Monday.
