Knesset Economics Committee Chairman Avishai Braverman on Monday threw his support behind Bank of Israel Deputy Governor Karnit Flug to replace her boss, outgoing governor Stanley Fischer.

"I very much hope that soon she will get the position that is appropriate, that is appropriate to us and to Israel," Braverman said at Fischer's parting meeting with the committee.

A week earlier, at Fischer's final meeting with the Knesset Finance Committee, MK Gila Gamliel (Likud Beytenu) expressed her desire that Flug replace him to become the bank's first female BOI Governor.
