Retired Brigadier General Yitzhak Yaakov died at the age of 87, Israel Radio reported.
Yaakov, former head of the Israel Defense Forces' weapons research and development program, was convicted of harming national security after he wrote two books on Israel's weapon development programs. The Tel Aviv District Court gave him a suspended two-year sentence in 2002.
