On the date of Gilad Schalit's 24th birthday, Britain called for the immediate release of the kidnapped IDF soldier who has been held captive by Hamas in the Gaza Strip since 2006, AFP reported on Saturday.

A Foreign Office spokesman said that Schalit's detention is "unjustifiable and unacceptable. The British government demands his immediate and unconditional release."
