TEHRAN - The British foreign secretary arrived in Tehran on Sunday to reopen Britain's embassy, marking a major step in ending the Islamic Republic's isolation from Western powers, a Reuters witness said.

The visit by Philip Hammond, secretary of state for foreign and commonwealth affairs, comes nearly four years after protesters ransacked the British ambassadorial residence in the Iranian capital.
