British MP resigns over parliamentary vote on Palestinian statehood

A British lawmaker resigned on Tuesday following a parliamentary vote on recognizing Palestinian statehood.
English MP Mike Freer, the sole parliamentarian representing the constituency of Finchley and Golden Green in the UK's House of Commons, stepped down from his role in light of the vote on the motion, which he labeled as "backbench business."
"Govt policy on two state solution remains best hope for lasting peace [sic]," Freer tweeted after the resolution was passed by a sweeping majority.
