Bus bomb in Philippines kills 9, wounds 6

MANILA, Philippines  — Authorities said a bomb explosion on a passenger bus in the southern Philippines killed at least nine people and wounded six others on Thursday.

Military spokesman Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said that the blast ripped through the bus in Matalam township in the southern Mindanao region, where Muslim rebels and extortion gangs operate.
