The cabinet will convene on Sunday for a special discussion about the missile threat to the home front and steps that are being taken to prepare the public.

Defense officials said that the discussion would be headed by OC Home Front Command Maj.-Gen. Yair Golan and Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai who is in charge of the home front within the MOD. The two will present the results of last week’s pilot run during which thousands of gas masks were distributed in Or Yehuda by the Israel Postal Company.

The officials said that the distribution was successful and would soon be expanded to other parts of the country. The full distribution of gas masks is expected to be completed within three years.
