A rabid calf was reported on a farm in the Beit Shean Valley, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday. Nine people who cared for the cow, an unusual victim of rabies, were sent for shots. In recent weeks, a number of rabid dogs and other animals in the North have been infected with the virus. Anyone who is scratched or bitten by a mammal should wash the skin immediately with soap and water, disinfect the wound and hurry to the nearest district health office or emergency room.
