Canadian billionaire to award scholarship for Israelis

The Jewish Canadian billionaire, philanthropist and entrepreneur Seymour Schulich will award 35 Israeli students with NIS 100,000 scholarships each next year as part of his scholarship fund, which yearly distributes grants to Israeli students in the fields of science, technology and mathematics.
According to the fund, Schulich’s initiative results from his desire to help develop a new generation of Israeli leaders, by allowing students who demonstrate leadership skills and academic excellence but lack financial means, to focus on their studies without having to worry about the high cost of living.
Selected students are also required to spend some of their time contributing to the community.
To date, Schulich has donated over $350 million through his philanthropic ventures largely focused on education and health care centers across Canada, the US, and Israel.
