Around 100 employees from Channel 10 and other news outlets demonstrated outside the Prime Minister's residence on Thursday morning against the possible closure of the news station or the layoff of dozens of workers.
Channel 10 decided on Tuesday to lay off 150 workers, after a meeting over its debt repayments to the state ended without resolution. The channel owes NIS 45 million to the state, and the Second Broadcasting Authority plans to withdraw its financial guarantees by September 2, which would result in the network’s closure.
The employees blocked Aza Street twice and halted traffic for a number of minutes, though there were no arrests.
"For us, 'Survivor' is our reality and not a reality show," employees wrote in a letter to the Prime Minister.
