China says 'ulterior motives' behind criticism but efforts are futile

BEIJING,  - Anti-China forces are behind criticism of Chinese policies in its far western region of Xinjiang, China's foreign ministry said on Tuesday after a UN panel raised allegations that 1 million ethnic Uighurs may be held in internment camps there.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kang said in a statement "ulterior motives" were behind the criticism and that efforts to create rumors and defame China were futile.
