Clinton pushes once more for Iran sanctions

LONDON  — US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton isusing meetings in London this week to press ahead with imposing toughnew international sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program.

Asenior US official said Wednesday that Clinton would raise theprospect of new UN Security Council sanctions against Iran indiscussions with the foreign ministers of Russia, China, Britain,Germany, France, Italy, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and the United ArabEmirates.

The official spoke on condition of anonymity becausethe meetings will be private. Clinton and her colleagues are in Londonfor British-hosted meetings this week on Yemen and Afghanistan.
