Danon invites Kerry to Jordan Valley to observe "essential" IDF presence

Deputy Defense Ministry Danny Danon invited on Monday US Secretary of State John Kerry to visit the Jordan Valley to see that the IDF's "presence in the region is an essential security requirement."
"We received an another reminder last night that foreign forces cannot be tasked with maintaining security in the Middle East," Danon said following the fatal shooting of an IDF soldier on the border with Lebanon on Sunday night.
"Only the IDF presence in the Jordan Vally will prevent Iran from being five minutes away from Kfar Saba," Danon warned.
The US has recently proposed to maintain Israeli presence in the Jordan Valley for ten years as part of an Israeli-Palestinian peace deal.
