The Education Ministry will hold a national defense exercise in elementary and high schools throughout the country on Monday. The exercise is set to begin at 10:05 with the sound of a national alarm.

It will aim to increase the readiness of educational institutions to act and behave effectively in various emergencies through a series of drills. Education Minister Shai Piron, Education Ministry director-general Michal Cohen and OC Home Front Command Maj.-Gen. Eyal Eisenberg will participate in the drill at the Bnei Akiva school for girls in Pisgat Ze’ev.

As part of the exercise, students and teachers will independently find and enter “protected spaces,” simulate evacuation of casualties and wounded victims and practice extinguishing small fires.
