One 25-year-old man was killed and a woman was severely injured Friday near Safed after a driver lost control of his car and swerved onto the sidewalk, striking them.

The injured woman, 27, was rushed to Rambam Medical Center in Haifa.

Police initially suspected that the driver was drunk, but now believe that he swerved as a result of a medical issue. They are investigating the incident.
