BRUSSELS - European Union foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton will meet Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili in Istanbul on May 15 as a follow-up to last month's nuclear talks in Almaty, a spokesman for Ashton said on Thursday.

Ashton represents six world powers - the United States, China, Russia, Britain, France and Germany - in talks with Iran on its controversial atom program. The six powers and Iran failed in talks in the Kazakh capital Almaty last month to end the deadlock in the decade-old dispute.
