Israel will issue a "strong response" to any breach of the Gaza border, with focus turned there after the completion of Operation Northern Shield, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan (Likud) said on Monday.

"Any breach of the border, whether by a Hamas operative or by kite will elicit a strong response," Erdan, who is also the minister of strategic affairs and a member of Israel's security cabinet, told Army Radio. "Every time there will be an interference, our response will be strong. I hope this policy will end the shootings and rockets across the border, as has happened in the past.""The flourishing of residents of the Gaza border region, including Sderot, is thanks to the security policies [of Israel]," he said.

Israel completed Operation Northern Shield to expose and destroy Hamas terror tunnels in the northern part of the country on Sunday.
