Public Security and Strategic Affairs Minister Gilad Erdan reacted to the UK's exit from the EU and subsequent resignation of Prime Minister David Cameron on Friday.

"Cameron's resignation is sad and unfortunate, but proves that he was a smart and responsible leader. A true gentleman."

"I had the privilege of getting to know him as a leader of the opposition and he demonstrated profound friendship to Israel and continued to work with Israel throughout his years as prime minister," he said.

Erdan also praised Cameron for his recent support of a resolution against the BDS movement.
