FSA: Arms received that can 'change balance of power'

Syria's main rebel force in opposition to President Bashar Assad has reportedly received arms that can "change the balance of power on the ground" in the country's raging conflict, Al-Arabiya on Friday reported Salim Idriss, the head of the Free Syrian Army, as saying.

Last Friday, Syrian rebels criticized the US decision to back opposition force with small-scale weapons saying heavy weaponry was needed to counter the Syrian army loyal to Assad, The Washington Post reported. US Secretary of State John Kerry was due to arrive to the Middle East in the coming week to confront the same concerns voiced by regional and European allies.

Bloomberg contributed to this report.
