Fire under best control level since beginning of blaze

The fire raging in the Carmel region of Northern Israel was being contained at the best level since the blaze began overnight on Saturday, Army Radio reported.

Firefighters at the scene added that winds were picking up again, however, and that the situation may worsen before morning. The fire-fighting aircraft were expected to resume operations at approximately 6.30am on Sunday.
