First Israeli named to WHO executive committee in 21 years

A senior Health Ministry official has been named to the executive committee of the World Health Organization, after 21 years in which Israel has had no representative in that body.
Prof. Itamar Grotto, the ministry’s associate director-general and former public health head, was chosen in Budapest where members of the WHO convened.
He said that he was moved by the appointment and promised to do all he could to faithfully represent the interests of Israel.
